Greetings to all the children, parents, care-givers and families of wonderful Room 7. I have already had the pleasure of meeting most of you. Your welcome has been heartwarming and I thank you for that kindness.
Already I have received feedback on the students' first homework sheet and I wish to notify you and the children that the sheet lasts for the rest of the term, and any spare moments in the up-coming holidays. I will change the homework format and make it much closer to what the students have become accustomed to having. I wish to emphasise the joy of learning by saying 'enjoy' and please don't feel stressed. Whatever students feel they can do will be more than acceptable.
It will be lovely to welcome you on Thursday of this week. I'm sure you will enjoy the children's presentations on their countries. Again, please don't worry about wearing full National Dress on Thursday this week! The dress-up is an opportunity to be creative and inventive: minimalism is ok too!
Bless you all,
arohanui (Maori for 'with love'), Sue McHale.
Have a great end of term and onwards.
God Bless, and my thoughts and prayers will be with you all on Sunday.
Homework : Multiplication sheet, School journal to read and a personal spelling list.
Please encourage your child to use mathletics at home to improve their mental calculations. The children are also able to access Rainforest maths; there is a tab at the top of the screen which gives them access to a whole range of interactive activities. Current events will continue this week and is part of the homework, please help your child to choose an article and be ready on their given day. The current events will be once every three weeks see schedule below.
The children are working on a topic about different countries. They need to find out:
where the country is on a world map.
What the currency the country uses and how to convert into NZ dollars.
They will need to find out the best places to visit and holiday.
What sorts of clothes to they wear.
The history of the country.
The music and dance if applicable.
Anything interesting about the country and present the topic using a powerpoint presentation by the end of the term.
