Week 8:

 

A reminder that tomorrow afternoon (Tuesday 7th September, 1.30-2.30pm) we have our next sports exchange against Meadowbank School.  Netball will take place at St Michael's and soccer and rugby will be played at College Rifles.

Our Senior School trip to the Botanical Gardens is next Wednesday.  If you are able to help with transport please let me know as soon as possible (we currently have none!!).  Thank you.

Our Inquiry topic this term is "Food for thought."  This is a Science based topic where we will be exploring how plants grow.  This will lead onto us creating and building a class vegetable patch by the end of the term.  We have registered our school at www.mccainveggiepatches.com  where the barcodes we collect from McCain frozen vegetable packets will equate to points that we can then use to purchase materials and equipment needed to build our vegetable patch.  To login, our username is: StMichaels and password is: StMichaels.

 

 

 

Current Events in Room 8

 As part of our weekly homework programme this year, we will be studying current events.

 

Each child will need to bring an article of their own choice to discuss on their assigned day of the week. It is important that children choose an article that they are interested in and have a clear understanding of.

 

This is an Oral Language (Speaking) activity. Children will be allowed to have notes on their article, but they are to try and explain the article in their own words.

 

 

1)     Who (Who is the article about?)

2)     What (What are the important events or ideas that the article is focusing on?)

3)     Where (Where did this/is this going to happen?)

4)     When (When did this/is this going to happen?)

5)     Why (Why is this happening? Why will this happen?)

6)     How (How did/will it happen?)

7)     Why (Why do I think this is important?)

 

Current Events will take place during class time every day.  Each child will present on the same day each week, please refer to their presentation day below. If your child is sick, he/she will need to bring their article the next day.
