St. Luke the Evangelist Prayer
Almighty God, you inspired Your servant St. Luke the Evangelist and Physician to set forth in the gospel the love and the healing power of your Son. In faithfully detailing the humanity of Jesus, he also showed the divinity of Jesus and His genuine compassion for all human beings. May St. Luke intercede for us that we may deepen our understanding of the gospel and grow in compassion of Jesus. May his intercession enable our new parish to follow Your way and plan for us. We ask this through our Lord Jesus Christ who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, one God forever and ever. Amen. (www.saintluketheevangelist.org)
Manaaki ki te Atua,
With less than 3 weeks until the St Michael’s Food and Cultural Festival on Sunday, 4th November, we need your help to spread the word about our wonderful event. There is a huge amount of work going on behind the scenes to make this an amazing day, not only for St Michael’s families but for the wider community. As we all know we are a small school, but we represent over 30 different nationalities. As a community we would like to celebrate this diversity through amazing food trucks, market stalls, arts, craft, live performances and children’s rides and activities.
Please visit our facebook page www.facebook.com/StMichaelsFoodCulturalFestival or follow us on https://www.instagram.com/culturalsmcs to share the event with friends and family. By sharing the event on social media your family could go into the draw to win a $100 Gattings Events and Catering voucher which would be fantastic for birthday parties and family gatherings. This will be drawn randomly over the coming weeks.
On Friday we will be sending home a white DL envelope with each child that will contain a car sticker and 10 DL flyers. The car sticker is of a very high quality that will easily peel off after the event and can be placed on the back window of your car to help our school and parish promote the event over the next 2 weeks. The DL flyers can be used to hand out to friends and family about the event or to pop into your neighbour’s letterbox.
The organising committee thank you for your support in helping promote the event. If you would like further promotional material, please contact firstname.lastname@example.org.
The Festival Need’s your help – Volunteer to help make it a success
To recruit volunteers for the festival we will be utilising the wonderful network of class reps. We have assigned each class room an area of the festival to coordinate volunteers for. Please watch out for the email that you will receive from your class reps over the next couple of days and respond accordingly. To run an event of this size we will need approx 60 volunteers to help us throughout the day. We appreciate that it is a Sunday, but we hope most families can spare an hour to help out whilst they are visiting the festival. If you have any questions about volunteering please contact email@example.com
Gardening Working Bee – Sunday 28 October 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.
The PTA are coordinating another gardening working bee on Sunday 28 October from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. to refresh our school grounds and to prepare for hosting the festival the following Sunday. This is our chance to shine to the community and we would appreciate any help that you can provide during the working bee. If you can assist please contact Steph Kerr on Stephanie.firstname.lastname@example.org. Light refreshments and afternoon tea will be provided to volunteers. More details of what is required will be sent out next week via the class rep emails and class dojo.

Looking for pre-loved books: Sophie-Mary Brake (Room 10) is collecting books for Myanmar. Her grandmother is flying to Yangon next month and will personally deliver books to children who have learnt the english language and would like to read books in english. It is very expensive to buy english language books in Myanmar and these children would love to read books that our children do. Any books for primary aged children. Please drop in to the office.
