SMCS Athletics Day
On Friday the 17th of November, we had our annual Athletics Day at Glover Park, we had great weather as well as great sportsmanship. The events were long jump, ball throw, 60m, 100m, and for the Senior students we also had 200m and 800m. High Jump was held at school . Everyone worked really hard to make sure we would try our hardest and win for our houses.
A big thanks to all the helpers at Athletics day. Thank you to the Baradene girls that helped run all the rotations. Thank you also to all the parent helpers who helped with all the events. To the PTA for organizing the food and drinks and to Miss Bagnall for making this event happen.
Congratulations to all the Yr 5 and 6 students who qualified for the Remuera Zone Athletics. We wish you the best of luck.
We have really loved being sports leaders this year and working alongside Miss Bagnall who has encouraged us to be positive leaders and organize all the sporting events for the school. We wish the 2019 sports leaders all the best.

Christmas for our wider community
There will be a Christmas Box in the Caring Shed – please be generous with a gift, wrapped with a label stating if it is for a girl or boy with the age group. So many children go without during this festive time of the year and it is always nice to give back to our wider community if we can! Thank you so much!
Also in the spirit of Christmas, we are asking the St Michael’s community to donate non-perishable food items to the Caring Shed to top up the charitable food banks over the holiday period.
Any food donations would be welcome. “Never see a need without doing something about it”
End of Year Prize giving and Christmas Concert – Christmas Ham Rolls $5 each
The PTA will be selling Christmas Ham rolls with delicious homemade coleslaw for $5 each at the interval time between prize-giving and the concert on Wednesday 12 December. Please visit them at the hall kitchen to purchase a delicious fresh ham roll and to receive complementary tea and coffee.
Ice Cream Sales
If the Sun is shining on a Tuesday and Friday afternoon the PTA will be selling ice creams left over from the Cultural Festival. Please look out for one of the friendly PTA members outside the junior block after school on these days. What a great way to end the school day while we have beautiful sunny afternoons. Please bring along coins on those days if you would be interested in purchasing an ice cream for afternoon tea. Prices will be $3 for Trumpets and $4 for Kapiti icecreams.
Second Hand Uniform Shop
Stock is running low in the second hand uniform shop, all families are invited to drop off their unwanted uniforms to Genevieve in the school office. All Uniform donations are welcome!
The shop will be open for the last time this year on Friday 7 December at 2.30 p.m. to 3.15 p.m. Get in quick to receive a bargain before the year ends!
Class Representative – Classes still available!
The PTA are still calling for volunteers to become class representatives for 2019. Class Reps form part of the PTA committee and are responsible for communicating information to their assigned class regarding upcoming events and school activities. They are also responsible for organizing social gatherings for their class. A description of the duties involved is available if you are unsure of what would be involved. Becoming a class rep is a wonderful way to become involved in your child’s class and to be a special part of the school community by welcoming new families and uniting families throughout the year.
If you think you would like to be a class rep next year please contact Deahna Barrington on email: email@example.com . Class Representatives will be assigned for 2019 prior to the 2018 school year finishing. So get in quick!
An information session will be held for all new class reps to provide support and guidance. So don’t be frightened to put up your hand! We are here to help you.
