Lenten Reflection

Lord of light, come shine your truth upon my life in this season of Lent. Light into the dark corners of disillusionment, where I hide beneath the comforts of food and drink. Light upon the fears and worries I seek to quell with control and routine. Light within the shadowed areas of hurt that cast shades of resentment and unforgiveness in me. Light bright across my thoughts, seep into my heart and come awaken my hope. May your eternal light reveal heavens beautiful promises and bring a peace that surpasses understanding. Amen.”  (

The St Michael’s Family Tree

As mentioned in the last couple of newsletter , please note again that due to production constraints the construction of the replacement St Michael’s Family Tree Tile Wall in the foyer of the Hall has been delayed until Term 3.  Essentially what this means is that the period has been extended to purchase a tile.  Tiles will now be available for purchase until the 5th July, so if you have not purchased one you still have time.

Thank you to those families who have already completed their Tile Order Form and made payment, your Tiles are secured and will be included in the artwork being constructed by artist Peata Larkin.

Come in to stock up on your long sleeved winter shirts in time for Term 2.  We will also have second hand SMCS gymnastics leotards on sale.

Please consider donating any uniforms you no longer use for resale.  All proceeds go towards PTA projects benefiting the school.  We are in need of green culottes and grey shorts as well as long sleeved winter shirts.  We also accept jumpers/cardigans, school jackets and sun hats, sports gear, school socks and shoes!  Donated items can be dropped into the School Office.

Can you help?  We are looking for coat hangers and hanging racks.  If you have any that we can use please drop them into the Office or contact Caroline Harris at [email protected]

FREE FURNITURE – There are a few pieces of old wooden furniture under the Senior Block that the school no longer needs – some low tables and bookcases.  Please collect them if you can give them a new home!

Aroha after the tragedy in Christchurch

Here at St Michael’s, we are lucky that we are a Catholic School. One of the most powerful things we can do to help those in Christchurch after the tragedy of last week is to offer them our prayers and love.

On Monday, we gathered outside the flagpole to remember those who lost their lives in this horrific event. We prayed for their families and friends and acknowledged the police officers, ambulance, teachers, nurses and doctors who all helped.

Some student’s made cards and also a string of people to show that New Zealanders are always supporting one another.

Together in tears, together in hope. In remembrance of every person lost in the Christchurch attacks, we gathered for 2 minutes of silence on Friday 22 March.

Thank you from the Year 6 Media leaders – Angie, Stavro, Niko and Jake

Dear Christchurch,

We are very sorry for all the people that died in Christchurch and we are with Christchurch and God is with Christchurch.
We love you Christchurch. We all like you and are praying for you.
