Catholic Schools Day Tuesday 28 May – We celebrated a beautiful Mass and the students created pieces of art that depicted our faith.
Samoan Language Week – To celebrate this week students can wear something from Samoa on Friday e.g. a lavalava/sarong (on top of their uniform) or they may wish to wear a lei or beads.
Māori and Pasifika Hui on Monday 20 May
We had five families attend this meeting and it was great to share ideas with each other. We will be sending out a survey to those families who could not attend so that your voice can be heard.
Sacrament of Confirmation

Staff Changes – We welcome Mrs Deahna Barrington to our staff, she will be training and teaching Reading Recovery. Sadly, Mrs Sarah Robertson has given her resignation, effective from the end of Term 2, due to family and health reasons.

Girls Night Out
The raffle raised nearly $400 and the total proceeds from the night were over $1000. A big thank you again to those that helped secure goodies for the raffle, the spot prizes and the treat on your seat, as well as those that helped in other ways. Thanks to the class reps and the PTA for encouraging Mums to come along and to those SMCS Mums that asked friends from outside school.
Special thanks again to Trilogy, New World Eastridge, Carole from the Shore Rd Flower Van, The Corner Bar, Hoyts Cinema Mission Bay and other donors. Thanks also to Deahna Barrington for organising a fun and successful evening.

Once again the PTA has decided to provide a pre-pay option! Cash will still be accepted at the Disco but we encourage you to pre-pay for tickets, which will allow a Fast Pass Entry.

We will also be pre-selling bundles of $1.00 tickets that can be used like cash on the night for the items listed below. Add the amount you wish to spend at the Disco (e.g. + $5, +$10, +$15, +$20) to your deposit. Additional tickets can be purchased on the night with cash. Pre-paid entry and ticket bundles must be paid for by Tuesday 4th June and will be available for pick up at the office on Wed 5th, Thurs 6th, Friday 7th, June (allow 48 hours for money to transfer). Please note – there are NO refunds on pre-paid tickets! If you have already purchased tickets, please make another transaction for the $1 tickets.
Available for purchase are: pizza ($2), iceblocks ($2), sweets ($2), face painting ($3), photo booth tickets ($4), merchandise ($1-3), pulled pork rolls with coleslaw ($5), water bottles ($2), candy floss ($3), popcorn ($3), cupcakes ($3) etc.
**Remember this is not a drop off event but a family event so parental supervision is required**
Parents are welcome to BYO but responsible drinking is encouraged. Please bring your own cups/glasses and take empty bottles home with you.

The St Michael’s Family Tree
There is still time to purchase a tile for the St Michael’s Family Tree! Tiles can be purchased until the 5th July, order forms can be requested by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org.
Thank you to those families who have already completed their Tile Order Form and made payment, your Tiles are secured and will be included in the artwork being constructed by artist Peata Larkin.

Incorporated in the sale of Tiles now, is the opportunity to purchase a limited edition print of the artwork that is being constructed on the wall. Register your interest for purchasing one of these beautiful prints at the office. You now have the opportunity to purchase a tile and a print as a package or can order individually. Second Hand Uniform Shop
Open the first Friday of each month from 2.30pm to 3.15pm. Next open on Friday 7th June.
We have had a makeover! Thank you to Nigel Fisher and Wardrobe World for their generous donation of new hanging racks and shelving space for the shop – it all looks fantastic!
Do you have any long sleeved winter shirts to donate for resale? All proceeds go towards PTA projects benefitting the school. We are in need of winter shirts as well as green culottes and grey shorts. We also accept jumpers/cardigans, school jackets and sun hats, sports gear, school socks and shoes. Donated items can be dropped into the School Office.
The next PTA Meeting is Tuesday 11 June at 7pm in the staff room. All parents are welcome.
