Xlr8 ASC Times Table challenge 2019
Each year the Xlr8 Services Limited After School Care programme holds a ‘Times Table’ challenge in Term 4, an annual event where both juniors and seniors compete against each other in this challenge.
The juniors are encouraged to participate so they can be motivated to do well in maths and build their self confidence in the subject.
Fourteen children entered this year. They were Anduin A, Corban H, Enzy C, Eden C, Kian M, Laura H, Madeline C, Maggie B, Max Maher, Niko P, Stavro P, Stella V, Santiago VHT and Oliver W.
These students trained hard throughout the year practicing each day in the after-School Care programme, in the car and at home. It was a fantastic effort from all of the participants especially Niko and Santiago who were close at heel but Corban was the winner. Niko came second place.
CONGRATULATIONS to Corban Harrison, really proud of your performance!! Enjoy the well-deserved prize of a Tablet. Well done to you too, Niko! And Good on you all, for participating in this tough challenge. Looking forward to the challenge again, next year.

SMCS Enviro Leaders – Garden update
The Enviro Leaders have started working in the school gardens.
We noticed the planter boxes on the top court were in need of some work. Last Thursday we started by pulling out some weeds and ensuring we got all the roots out so the weeds would not grow again. We added fresh potting mix and dug holes for the new flowers. The plants were carefully pulled out of their small plastic cups and were placed into the soil.
After we finished watering the flowers, tipped the weeds into the green waste and washed the dirt off of all of the gardening equipment we went to check on the radishes. We were happy to have 15 radishes to pick. The Enviro leaders will be working in the gardens each week keeping the school gardens tidy.
