Tena koutou katoa St Michael’s School Community,
Welcome to New Families and Students
We would like to welcome the following new families who have joined us this term: Frogoso family (Xian), and the Wong family (Cecilia) whose older brothers, Samuel and Francis already attend SMCS.
Health and Safety – Beatrice Road
In the interest of the safety of the children do not park in front of the church. This is a drop off or pick up only zone (2-3 minutes max). Please do not block in other cars or driveways. If parents aren’t willing to observe this basic courtesy then more severe measures will need to be put in place. We would hate to have a tragic incident involving one of our children.
KiVa is a proven bullying prevention approach, which leads to decreased levels of children being bullied and bullying others, improving the safety and well-being of children and freeing up teacher time to focus on teaching. Bullying is defined as: hurtful, deliberate and ongoing.
Public Health Message
Please keep your children at home if they are sick (colds, cough, flu etc). We are still practicing hand washing and coughing into the elbow.
School Motto and Values
I have spoken to all our students with regards to their behaviour and use of language. It is important that everyone models our Motto “Christ is Ever Present” and our four values “Make Room for All”, “Listen to God’s Call”, “Attitude of Gratitude” and “Do your Bit”.

Dress up as your favourite online character or just come and enjoy some dancing! Note that this is not a drop off event so parental supervision is required.
Once again, there is a prepay option for the disco. Cash will still be accepted at the Disco but we encourage you to prepay for tickets. This means you won’t have to join the queue for purchasing tickets on the night. We will also be pre-selling bundles of $1.00 tickets that can be used like cash on the night for food, etc.

Second Hand Uniform Shop
The Uniform Shop will next be opening on Friday 7th August from 2.30 p.m. to 3.15 p.m. We have a good supply of most winter uniform items so come along and we will help you find what you need.
Issue #5 has been handed out to the children this week. Please see the inside back cover of the flyer for ordering instructions:
- Download the ‘Loop’ app via the App Store or Google Play.
- Register for St Michaels School
- Place & pay for your order online.
Feel free to contact Ree if you have any questions, or have difficulty placing your order email@example.com
Orders for this issue will close at the end of next week, Friday 7th August. Deliveries usually arrive approximately one week after orders close.
Apologies for any inconvenience with orders from the last issue. Scholastic ran into a few problems with stock following the Covid disruption, and gave us many substitutions in lieu of books that they did not have in stock. Usually there is only one Scholastic Issue per Term – this current one comes hot on the heels of Issue #4 late last Term – again because of the disruption to the School Term following Covid. We are back to normal time frames now.
Thanks for your understanding, and enjoyment of books!
The next PTA meeting will be held next Monday 24th August, 7pm in the staffroom. Please register attendance/apologies with Michelle Leong (PTA Secretary) at firstname.lastname@example.org All welcome!
