Tēnā koutou katoa St Michael’s Catholic School Community,

I hope you and your families are keeping well in this uncertain time. I have received positive feedback on distance learning. I know a lot of you are working from home so please do not feel pressured if your child does not complete all their tasks.

We say goodbye to Chris King and wish him and his family all the best as Deputy Principal at his new school, please keep him in your prayers. We warmly welcome Louise Spora to our school and hope she has a smooth transition.

Congratulations to the Pagtalunan family on the birth of their baby boy, Andrew, another younger brother for Andrei.

For Peace in Anxiety During the Coronavirus Pandemic

Loving God, we come to you full of anxiety about what may happen in the coming days and weeks. Shower us with the peace Jesus promised to his disciples, and make us into steady pillars for those around us. In this time of uncertainty and epidemic, wake us up to the reminder that we are not alone.

Even as we are asked to keep our distance from others, help us to find ways to reach out to those who need our support. We pray especially for those whose incomes and livelihoods are threatened. For the children who will miss meals due to school closures. For those already isolated, lonely and scared. Loving God, give them your peace, and through our hands ensure they have what they need.

Sustain, strengthen and protect all caregivers. Bless them as they offer compassionate care and show selfless courage in the face of risk.

Remind us, each time we wash our hands, that in our baptism you call us to let go of our fears and live in joy, peace, and hope. Amen.”

Home Sweet Home

by: Anna Karpik – Room 8, August 2020

Home makes me feel safe and comforted,
It is where most of the special moments of my life were,
It was the first thing I ever called home,
Home is a place where you can come home to and everything will be alright,
No dramas, no physical fights, just peace and happiness.
Home is the centre of all the fun,
Home is the centre of life,
It guards you like a knight,
It demolishes your worries:

Home is filled with fun, love and memories,
It is filled with memories that go all the way back to your first days or before,

Home is love and fun all over,
It has lovely cherished memories,
It has funny or fun memories;

No “Sorry you didn’t pass your test, try harder next time!”
Or “Now what do you think your doing in detention”
Just peace and relaxation.

You’re like a puzzle,
And home is the thing that pieces you together,
Home guides you the right way,
Towards Jesus;

You’ll never be upset at home,
Only relaxed,
You’ll never go on the wrong path at home,
At home you have a lot of your memories,
Home provides fun and love,
At home you can kick your feet up and say,
