This week we welcomed the birth of our eighth grandchild, a little baby girl named Maddison Ann Baker. Our daughter and Maddison are doing well.
Teachers are busy gathering achievement data for school reports. We aim to send the reports out in Term 4, Week 2.
Alert Level 2.5
Parents are discouraged from coming on site until we are in level 1. However if you do enter the school ground please record your visit on the NZ Covid tracer or the skool loop app.
Staggered Start: Students may still come to school after 8:15 a.m. but there will not be a person on duty at Bassett or Beatrice Roads.
Early pickups: this will finish Friday 11 September.
Welcome to New Families and Students
We would like to welcome the following new families who have joined us this term: the Petrus Family (Daniel) who currently have two older siblings at SMCS and the Na Family (Hayul).
Congratulations to the Waalkens family on the birth of their baby boy, a brother for Joshua.
Daffodil Day Friday 4 September
Thank you for your generous donations we raised $355.70 for the Cancer Society.
Te Reo Māori and Kapa Haka
We have employed Samuel Tapene each Thursday to teach Te Reo Māori and take the Kapa Haka for Year 5 and 6 students. He will work in the Senior classes every odd week and in the even weeks he will work in the Junior classes.
Cans for Christmas!
St Vincent de Paul Society, are currently sending out about 750-1000 food parcels a week. As a collective we can help!
Please begin bringing any cans to be donated to the box outside the office – cans can be brought right up to the end of this term. Thank you in advance for your generosity!

In light of the email I sent out to parents this week with regards to disturbing video content posted on social media sites, I would strongly recommend that your children do not have access to the following sites: TikTok, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and other social channels. The age limit for most of these sites is 13 years.
