We come to the end of Term 3! This has certainly been a year like no other. I wish all our SMCS Community a safe and enjoyable break from school. I will be spending some quality time with my grandchildren. I am hopeful that by the time Term 4 begins that we may be in Level 1.

Mufti Day for the Heart Kids Foundation – Friday 25 September

Please bring a gold coin donation to help fundraise for this excellent cause! Sofia, Anna and Eve will pop around on Friday morning to collect donations from each class.

Cans for Christmas!

A huge thank you to everyone for your generous contributions to the Cans for Christmas collection for St Vincent de Paul – we collected 264 cans!

  • Footsteps Showcase on Friday 25 September – teachers will post snippets of Footsteps dances onto Class Dojo instead!
  • Photolife has been changed to 20 October 2020 (Class, Sibling, Portrait and Sports Photos)
  • Parent Teacher Interviews on Wednesday 28 October (1:30pm – 5:30pm) and Thursday 29 October (3:30pm to 7:30pm). You will be able to book times in Term 4.

SMCS Year 4-6 Speech Finals

On behalf of the senior school teachers, congratulations to the following students who were selected as finalists to present their speech at the SMCS Speech Finals on Monday 21 September in the Mary MacKillop Hall!

It was a special occasion and we thank Mrs Barrington for her time and energy to judge this tight competition!

Well done to all of the senior students who demonstrated perseverance and courage to work through the speech writing and presentation processes.

PTA News

2020 Yummy Sticker Collection

THANK YOU so much to everyone who collected stickers.  We have received 6000 of them!  We won’t know how much sports gear we will receive until Term 4 but we will let you know as soon as we find out.  Start collecting now for 2021!  Thanks to Deahna Barrington for coordinating this.

Disco – Friday 16th October, 5-7pm (if we are in Level 1)

Virtual World theme!

DJ Mike Cruz is back to play some sounds at this highly anticipated event so bring the family and dance the night away! Dress up as your favourite online character or just come and enjoy some dancing! Note that this is not a drop off event so parental supervision is required.

There is a pre-pay option for the disco.  Cash will still be accepted but we encourage you to pre-pay for tickets.  This means you won’t have to join the queue for purchasing tickets on the night.  We will also be pre-selling bundles of $1.00 tickets that can be used like cash on the night for food, etc.

Entry Tickets $5.00 per child or $10 per family.  Then add on the amount you wish to spend at the Disco (e.g. $5, $10, $15, $20…) to your deposit.  Additional tickets can be purchased on the night.

(For example, a family of 2 children attending with $20 spending money will add ‘2’ as the number attending and will deposit $30 into the PTA account).  Easy!

PTA positions available for 2021

It’s time to start thinking about how you might like to be involved with the fabulous SMCS PTA for 2021!  Chairperson/s, Secretary roles will be available as well as other roles that we would love your help with.  Being part of the PTA is a very rewarding experience and we have had a fantastic, motivated group this year, fitting in fundraising/social events whenever it has been possible!  Come along to the last few PTA meetings of the year and see what it’s all about or email Emma/Caroline at [email protected] with any questions.

Second-Hand Uniform Shop

Closed until Level 1. Please send any inquiries to Caroline at [email protected].   Our next possible opening (assuming we are at Level 1) is Friday 16th October from 2.30pm to 3.15pm.

Please consider donating any uniform items that you no longer use to the Uniform Shop – we are especially in need of girls summer shirts and culottes in all sizes.  Donations can be left at the School Office.

We are also looking for a new Uniform Shop Manager.  Please email [email protected] if you want to find out more!

Pizza Friday

There will be no pizza Friday or ice-blocks for sale until we are back at Level 1.

Beginning Experience Grief Resolution Weekend Retreat
