Tēnā koutou katoa St Michael’s Catholic School Community,
We are certainly entering the busy season and it is vital that we take time to still ourselves and take time to catch our breath. I have downloaded the “Mentemia Mental Wellbeing” App which is led by Sir John Kirwan. I get little message reminders to help with my wellbeing.
Lock Down Exercise
Today we held a very successful Lock Down exercise, the students responded well and the whole event ran smoothly.
Last week we enjoyed our Book week for 2020. We were grateful that this event could take place during these uncertain times. We sold $4,407 worth of books and the school received $1,542 for the SMCS Library.
Thank you to the parent volunteers who helped run the Book fair especially Ree George and Emma Houghton and thank you to everyone who made our Book Week successful.
Here are a few photos from the Book Parade:

November is the month in which we remember the dead
During this time we continue to pray for those who have gone before us in faith that they might be embraced by God. At many churches you will have the opportunity to remember your loved ones by signing their names in a book or on slips of paper. These names are brought to the altar and special prayers are said for them.
For all who have died
They have gone no further from us than to God, and God is very near”
Manaaki ki te Atua,
SMCS Book Week
Last week we enjoyed our Book Week for 2020. We were grateful that this event could take place during these uncertain times. We started the week with Pajama Day and welcomed ‘Dog man ‘ into Jump Jam.
We had another successful book swap and the selection was of high quality. The Library leaders enjoyed running events throughout the week and congratulations to the winners of these activities. We ended the week with our one and only Book Character Parade and the costumes were outstanding. Thank you to everyone who made our Book Week successful.

SMCS Book Week
Book Week was amazing, this year for the book fair DogMan was the mascot and an Ex silver Fern from Duffy Books visited us to talk about books. A different classroom teacher came and read to us their favourite story.
On Tuesday we had Pajama day, on Wednesday we had a drawing competition in the library and on Wednesday we had a book swap.
On Friday everyone came to school in their outstanding costumes dressing up as iconic book characters from books such as Harry Potter and Dogman. Thank you once again St Michael’s.
