Yesterday our Year 6 Leaders were very excited to be going to Camp Adair at Hunua. Please keep them in your prayers. Last night our staff attended the Dedication Mass at Christ the King. At this Mass all Catholic schools and institutions were blessed.

Learning Evening and Meet the Teachers – Wednesday 17 February – Two Sessions: 6pm and 6:30pm
At 6pm and 6:30pm there will be two identical sessions where teachers will share information that is specific for their Year groups. E.g. Learning expectations, learning targets, timetables and home learning. Children can attend the sessions with you.
The meeting rooms are as follows:
Room 2 for Students in Rooms 1 & 2; Room 3 for Students in Room 3 & 4; Room 5 for Students in Rooms 5 & 6; Room 7 for Students in Rooms 7 & 10; and Room 8 for Students in Room 8 & 9.
Sunday 28 February is our School Parish Mass at 10am – All to attend
The students are to wear mufti clothes as there is a fun day planned after it. Students will meet their classroom teacher in the Parish Centre by 9.40am.

Motorised Model Building Demonstration – Thursday 11 February at 3pm in the Hall
Join the Bricks 4 Kidz Motorised LEGO® Model Building class and experience the hands-on fun of our STEAM programme. Develop problem solving skills and an appreciation for how things work. Classes will be held on Monday after school in the Hall. To enrol click on the link below.

Food for Faith for Lent 2021
Food for Faith offers brief daily email encouragements in LENT 2021 for those who sign up at www.foodforfaith.org.nz. Take a few minutes each day of Lent to experience Jesus Christ present with you and experience immediate benefits. Catholic Charity Walk
Walk a day in their shoes! Join a 12-hour walk around Auckland on the 6th of March to raise funds for vulnerable families in Latin America through the Catholic charity – NPH New Zealand.

We would like to introduce ourselves. We are Ree George (Mum to Arran Yr 5 and Miller Yr 1, and also Luca who is now at Sacred Heart College) and Sarah Benson (Mum to Oliver, Yr 4.) We were elected as Co-chairs at the PTA AGM on 9th February. We look forward to working together with the wider school community to do what we can to continue the fantastic work that has been done by many previous parents. We’d like to take this opportunity to thank Caroline Harris and Emma Houghton for all of their hard work, and enthusiasm during their time as Co-chairs over the past 2 years.

We still need help with a temporary tattoo and face painting stall. Do you have older students no longer at St Michael’s who may have a flair for art and would like to help with this? We have stencils available to help with designs on the day.

Second Hand Uniform Shop
The second hand uniform shop was very popular last week, it will be open again on 12th March and 9th April. Pay by cash or online payment. Sorry no Eftpos available at this point in time.
Thank you to Sabrina Tian for taking on the running of this. We are still also in need of some more helpers to assist in the shop this year – the shop opens two or three times a term on a Friday afternoon. Please email email@example.com if you would like to join the team!

Scholastic Book Club
Last Friday, 5th February, your child should have come home with a copy of the latest Scholastic Lucky Book Club brochure. It’s a new year, and a GREAT time for students to kick-start their reading habits and routines!
There are many benefits of Book Club, including:
- Carefully curated with age appropriate titles.
- Value for money–children can take home a book from as little as $3.
- Quality publishing–access to the best in children’s publishing from bestselling authors and illustrators.
- Rewards that go back to the school to buy more books and educational resources!
Ordering from the brochures is easy, it is all done online via LOOP (the Linked Online Ordering and Payment platform for parents). There are two ways you can order online:
- Visit mybookclub.scholastic.co.nz to set up your account and order through the website.
- Download the LOOP App (this is a different LOOP from the Skool LOOP App!) and follow the prompts.
It can be a bit daunting setting it all up for the first time, so here is an easy to follow guide how to do it: Parents Guide to setting up LOOP
Each year remember to log on to your account and update your Child/Children’s Year Level and Classroom to ensure that ordered books will be delivered to the correct place!
Orders close two weeks after the brochures come out – Issue 1 orders must be completed online by Friday, February 19th. Books are delivered to the school the week after orders close, and will be handed out to your children in their classrooms once they have been sorted.
Please do not hand in any orders or money to the Office, all orders must be placed online via the website, or through the LOOP App.
Our School benefits hugely from your Book Club orders. Rewards points are earned through our spend, and these points are gifted back to the Teachers and Library at St Michaels School throughout the Year.

Volunteers needed please!!
We really need a parent to take on the role of running the school Disco, planned to take place in Term 3 or this event may not happen!! There is a formula to follow to organize the Disco, so you will not be starting from scratch – and various members of the PTA and school Community will join in to help you so you won’t be doing it alone! Caring Shed Co-ordinator
Our Caring Shed is a space that items can be donated to, and then passed on to the Monte Cecilia Charity. In the past we had a school Coordinator for the Caring Shed to help with the process, and we would really like to re-establish this role in 2021. If you are interested please contact us.
Plenty of support is available within the PTA if you would like to take on one of these roles, you don’t have to re-invent the wheel!!

SMCS 2021 Soccer Information and Registration Flyer
OPEN EVENING will be held on Thursday 4 March, 2021 at 6.30 p.m. We welcome all prospective parents and students to visit the College. Entry at Gate 2 to the Auditorium.
Enrolments for Year 7, 2022 are presently being accepted and will close on Friday 19 March, 2021.
A limited number of places in Year 9 will be available and applications will close on Friday 19 March, 2021.
