Ministry of Health Update

The Ministry of Health website has the current list of locations of interest – COVID-19: Contact tracing locations of interest | Ministry of Health NZ

Please check the table on this webpage to see if you or someone from your household was at any of those places, at those times.

  • If the answer is no, no one from your household has been to those locations at those times, then you don’t need to do anything more
  • If the answer is yes, someone from your household was at one or more of those places at those times, then they will need to follow the advice in the “What to do” column. You can see that the advice is different depending on whether someone was a customer or staff member, or a household member.
  • If you have symptoms but have not been to a location of interest stay home and call Healthline for advice on 0800 358 5453.

Lent is a time to look inside ourselves and to change the things we don’t like such as our bad habits and make ourselves a little bit more in Christ’s image. Lent is also a time for sacrifice. During this season, we have the opportunity to sacrifice something that is meaningful to us. Below is a Lenten promise from one of our Room 3 student’s (Adela Slavich).

This is a great event but for it to run smoothly we require a large number of parents to help. Please if you are able to help at this event can you email Charlotte Bagnall at [email protected] Unfortunately I am unable to attend due to a class with the Catholic Principals Forum.

Teacher Only Day 19 March 2021

Just a reminder that we are having a Teacher Only Day on Friday 19 March. Please put this in your calendars. We had two days planned last year but due to the number of days we had in lockdown, we cancelled these days.

It was very disappointing for the students to have missed out going to MOTAT. We are on the waiting list for a new date. We have booked the Senior Syndicate to attend ‘Beauty and The Beast’ (17 June) as we have a large number of students who will be acting in this production. The Juniors are planning to go to the Zoo.

Prayer For Wisdom and Direction

“God, while I have some ideas about what I would like my future to look like, I know that YOUR plan far surpasses anything I could ever hope or dream for myself. So today, as I make decisions (both small and large), please give me wisdom, discernment, vision and direction so I make decisions that help lead me and those around me into a fuller relationship with You and keep us on track with Your will for our lives, whatever that may be.”

Scholastic Book Club

Orders have now closed for the scholastic bookclub and we will be receiving and distributing books through the classrooms very soon.

Please let us know if you would not like your order to be given to your child as we can arrange for you to collect it from us directly. Email [email protected]

School Uniform Shop

The next dates for the  School uniform Shop will be 12th March and 9th April.  Payment may be made by cash or online payment. Sorry no EFTpos available at this point in time.

We are still also in need of some more helpers to assist in the shop this year – the shop opens two or three times a term on a Friday afternoon.  Please email [email protected] if you would like to join the team! To donate uniforms please put them in a bag and drop to Gen at the office.

Updates on Volunteer needs!

Swimming Sports
This will take place at Sacred Heart School on Friday 5th March. We are planning to sell ice-blocks at the event. Thank you very much to Cristina Alverado and Sabrina Tian for organizing this..

Charlotte Bagnall also urgently needs volunteers for helping with the event. Please contact her on [email protected]

Save the date!! Working Bee 13th March
We are planning to have a Working Bee to have a general tidy up around the school grounds. Jobs like weeding, water blasting the bleachers and more! Anybody can be involved in many of the jobs. More details to follow.

Gardening help
Jim Rea has been very active in the garden over the past year or so, (Thank you Jim). There was a very healthy crop of potatoes in the end garden over the summer. He has also been showing some of the younger students the basics of watering and looking after plants.

The school is lucky enough to have plenty of outside space, and it would be great if we could get some more volunteers to give just a little time on a regular basis to help maintain the grounds.

We are thinking of having a list of jobs posted on a whiteboard so that people can come in at a time that suits them and easily see what needs attention at any given time.

Please either see Jim if you spot him in the garden or email us at [email protected] if you might be interested in helping. Thanks!

Caring Shed Coordinator
Our Caring Shed is a space that good quality items can be donated to, which are then passed on to the Monte Cecilia Charity. The shed is located on the top asphalt opposite the staff room.

They have recently stopped taking  some of the items that they used to be happy to take. Louise Barnett will be liaising with them to get a clear list of what they need and we will post it here and in the shed so that we don’t end up with unwanted items filling the shed. More details to follow as we have them.

PTA meeting

The next PTA meeting has been planned for 7pm Monday 22 March, in the staffroom. We would love to see you there – new members are always welcome, and we are a friendly bunch!

Ree, Emma and Sarah.
