Drop off and Pickups – Unsafe Parking

We have had a number of complaints from our neighbours with regards to people parking across or in their driveways and parking on the yellow lines. Please for the safety of our students and for the respect of our neighbours can you park legally. Please share this information with the people who do drop offs or pickups for your family.

Tongan Tsunami Relief

It has been sad to read the updates on the situation in Tonga. We will continue to keep the people of Tonga in our prayers.

Bishop Michael is coordinating a fundraiser for Tonga:
An online event full of excitement – silent auction, musical items, shout outs, and more! Let us come together and show our support for our Tongan sisters & brothers. Please check out and donate to our Give A Little page in raising funds to support the mahi of church agencies on the ground in Tonga: https://givealittle.co.nz/cause/catholics4tonga (click to view)

SMCS Swimming

We are currently in the process of taking our Year 5 to 6 students to compete against each other at Sacred Heart Pools, on Friday 4th March 2022. Our main priority is the year 5 and 6 students, who wish to compete in swimming this year. If numbers permit, we will extend this to our Year 4 students. We are limited to a maximum of 100 people (including children and staff).

Unfortunately, this means we are unable to have any spectators at the pool. At this stage, Remuera Zones have been postponed until further notice.

The junior school will not compete at Sacred Heart School this year, however something will be planned later in the term for them.

PM eCollection (Junior School)

This is a wonderful online reading tool provided to all of our Junior children to help support reading mileage. Your child’s classroom teacher will provide you with their username and password. If you have any questions, or problems with your child’s account, please email Mrs Barrington at [email protected].

Prayer for Waitangi Day
(From the National Liturgy Office)

Ka īnoi tātou Ever-living God
From whom all rangatiratanga (sovereignty) comes.
In the unfolding time You led the Māori people and
many other people, to find their home in Aotearoa.

As we strive to fulfil the destiny of our lives,
Heal the wounds of our past,
Draw together in tika (justice) and aroha (love)
All who call this land their own.

We ask this through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son,
Who lives and reigns with you in the unity of
The Holy Spirit, God for ever and ever

PTA News

One week in and we hope everyone is settling in well, it’s taking a while to get those routines back up and running! (or is that just our house?!)

Second Hand School Uniform Shop

The next shop opening will be Friday 4th March at 3.10pm to 3.40pm after the children have left school. If you are unable to make this time and date, please email Sabrina via the [email protected] address and we will pass on any queries to her, as she can check for stock and try and arrange a contactless pick up for you.

DONATIONS URGENTLY NEEDED PLEASE!!
We are very short of ALL stock in the shop but especially size 8 and above, so if you have any uniform items to donate, please send it in to the school office as soon as possible.

PLEASE ONLY SEND UNIFORMS IN WITH YOUR CHILD, Parents are asked not enter the school site still at this time.

Pizza Fridays

We are hoping to be able to offer pizza on Fridays again in the very near future and are looking into a new way of ordering both to reduce extra people in the school collating orders in the morning and also looking into an online payment system to make life easier for parents. We appreciate your patience while we look into this. THEREFORE THERE WILL BE NO PIZZA THIS FRIDAY!!

Caring Shed

We would like to say a big ‘Thank you‘ to Louise Mannion for the great effort she put in to organising the Caring shed during the past year or so. We are now in need of a new Caring Shed co-ordinator to take over from Louise (who has left things in great shape and can provide details of what the role involves). Please email us on [email protected] if you would be keen to find out more about or may be happy to take on this role.

Also, If you have any good quality items to donate (no electrical items please) you may access the caring shed from 3.15pm only, after all children have left the school site. The key is available from Genevieve in the office.

Next PTA meeting

Next PTA meeting date 15th Feb 7pm (via zoom).
Please email us on the PTA email [email protected] if you would like to be sent the zoom link to join us. We’d love to have your company and input whether you are an old hand or brand new to the school!

Take care all,
Ree, Sarah & PTA
