Tēnā koutou katoa St Michael’s Catholic School Community,
“E hara tā kutoa i te toa takitahi, engari he toa takitini”
My strength is not as individual, but as a collective

School Board Elections 2022
The next trisennial school Board of Trustees (BoT) elections are to be held in September this year and we encourage you to think about running for the Board.
The BoT is made up of elected parent representatives, proprietor representatives, Ann as principal, and a teacher representative. As a school community it makes us stronger when we have a cross section of views and experiences at a governance level. While being on the Board can be challenging it is also rewarding as you draw on your personal experiences while considering the wider good and direction the school is heading. September is only 6 months away so now is the time to start considering how you can contribute.
Feel free to contact any of the current BoT members, if you would like to know more you can email Jon Williams firstname.lastname@example.org
There seems to be another wave of Covid going through the school community at the moment. As before, don’t struggle on at home by yourselves, please contact us if you are stuck for a food and/or medicine delivery. Either email Deahna on email@example.com or firstname.lastname@example.org and we will help you out.
This coming weekend – **Working Bee – Sat 28th May**
Thanks to all who have responded already. We look forward to seeing you at the Working Bee this coming Saturday (28th May) from 2pm to 4pm. All volunteers are welcome, so bring your tools and members of your family and come along for as much or as little time as you are able.
We are planning to provide a sausage sizzle towards the end of the afternoon (4 -5pm) by way of thanks so please contact us on email@example.com to give us numbers of adults and children for catering purposes.
School Disco – Thursday 23 June at 5pm – 7pm
We’re really excited to tell you that we have a date for the ever-popular School disco. It is Thursday 23rd June 5pm – 7pm (Thursday before the new Matariki long weekend).
The students have voted for a ‘Disney’ theme. Inspired by the magical world of Disney, bring your favourite character to life at our school disco.
We will be sending a flyer home very soon with more details, but just to give you a heads up, we are hoping to use the My Kindo app to pre-purchase tickets and tokens.
As in other years, we would really appreciate it if anyone may be in a position to donate anything, sponsor any part of the event and of course, we will be needing lots of volunteers on the night please!!
Please contact Giovanna on firstname.lastname@example.org or email@example.com if you are able to help in any way.
Thank you to Room 1 Parents for helping with Pizza this week. A reminder to please make purchases through the My Kindo app by 9am each Friday.
Thank you to you all for your continuing support of Pizza Fridays. The children love it, we really appreciate it, and it raises funds for resources for School.

School reading books amnesty
We have recently approved additional funds to school to help to replace lost readers as so many have gone missing in the past year.
Please have a good look around your homes and if you find any books please send them back to school (no questions asked! the teachers will just be glad to have them returned) so that money that we all raise as a community can be put towards new resources rather than replacement of existing ones.
Deahna has put boxes for returned books, one is outside the Junior bookroom and another in the foyer outside Genevieve’s office.
Volunteering – situations vacant!
If you have a regular amount of time spare please consider joining Sylvie’s pizza team. This would mean a commitment of approximately 1 hour on one Friday per month to oversee the process and help the parents from that week’s class. Thank you!
2nd Hand School Uniform shop
The next date that the 2nd hand school uniform shop will be open on is Friday the 3rd June.
