Seasons for Growth
Change and loss are issues that affect all of us at some stage in our lives. At St Michael’s Catholic School we recognise that when significant changes occur in our lives, young people may benefit from learning how to manage these changes effectively.
We are therefore offering a very successful education program called Seasons for Growth which will commence on Wednesday 3 August. This program is facilitated in small groups and is based on research which highlights the importance of social support and the need to practise new skills to cope effectively with change and loss. The program focuses on issues such as self-esteem, managing feelings, problem solving, decision making, effective communication and support networks.
If you think your son or daughter would benefit from Seasons for Growth, we would encourage you to talk to him/her about participating in the program.
Please email Genevieve van Coller [email protected] by Wednesday 6 July if your child would like to do the programme.
If you require further information, please contact Ann McKeown [email protected]
A reminder that classrooms are open from 8.30am and children will be supervised until the 8.55am bell. We have noticed a number of students arriving particularly early (some before 8.00am) and ask that you be mindful that teachers are preparing lessons at this time and not available for supervision until classrooms open.

“O God, who consecrated the abundant first fruits of the Roman Church by the blood of the Martyrs, grant, we pray, that with firm courage we may together draw strength from so great a struggle and ever rejoice at the triumph of faithful love.
Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.”

Some examples of talents: singing, dancing, magic, comedy routines, dramatic skits, juggling, yo‐yo tricks, mime, gymnastics, reciting poetry, playing an instrument… the list goes on!

We are currently on the hunt for a couple of ‘experts’ who would be willing to donate their time as a guest judge, so if you know someone who is ‘NZ famous’ please contact Miss Brown, thanks!
If you have any further questions, please contact Miss Lauren Brown either in her class (Room 5) or via [email protected]
What an amazing evening! We were very pleased to see so many families there, having fun together and making memories.
There were lots of activities and food enjoyed by everyone. DJ Mike Cruz once again did a brilliant job in keeping everyone dancing by playing the most recent hits and Disney tracks too.
If you visited our photobooth on the night, the pictures are now available for download until 28 July 2022. Simply go to https://www.kookaboo.com/member-access/images-download/, select St Michael’s disco and enter the password: HOP552.
Huge thanks to all all our sponsors for the generous donations and all our volunteers who made everything run smoothly.
See photos below from the night.
Wet Day Games/Activities
Given Auckland’s rainy winter the children are often inside during breaks in the winter terms. At our last meeting the PTA agreed to donate $1000 of existing funds to purchase new games and activities specifically for inside play times. The teachers are already compiling the lists of what to purchase for their students.
If you have anything at home that you would like to donate- games, puzzles, lego, felt pens etc. Please contact [email protected] to arrange drop off.
The Yummy Apples promotion is on again and runs through to the end of Term 3. Please see links below for more information to win Sports Gear for SMCS.
