Tēnā koutou katoa St Michael’s Catholic School Community,

“Nau te rourou, Naku te rourou, ka ora ai te tamariki”
With your contribution, and our contribution, the children will be well

What a difference a year makes! Both the Junior and Senior Syndicates headed out on field trips yesterday – the Juniors spent the day at Auckland Zoo studying animal habitats and adaptations, while the Seniors climbed Mt Hobson as part of their inquiry into the New Zealand Land Wars. A big thank you to all of the lovely parent helpers who supported the children and the staff on the day, and to the PTA for sponsoring the Junior School’s trip to the Zoo. Please see Zoo photos below.

I know that the Seniors are also looking forward to attending the upcoming production of Wendy at the Auckland Town Hall, which includes five of our own very talented performers: Ryan Wooler, Ellery Balderas, Tom Valerio, Aidan Cruz and Cecilia Wong. We wish them the very best in their preparation for these roles!

Tomorrow we are headed to Glover Park for this year’s SMCS Athletics Day (weather permitting). A big thank you to the parents who have offered to support Miss Bagnall in the organisation of this – it’s wonderful to see everyone “doing their bit” to ensure that the kids have a great day.

Parking Across Driveways and Yellow Lines

I have received a number of complaints from our neighbours and from teachers that some people are parking across driveways and on the yellow lines. Also some parents are crossing their child across the road a short distance from the crossing. Please be respectful of the road rules and our neighbours.

Class Placements for 2023

We respectfully ask that you do not make requests for particular teachers or for specific children to be placed together next year. Our current class teachers will place children in next year’s classes based on a large number of factors. Please be reassured that the teachers know the children really well as learners. They have good insight into the different learning needs of the children and where and with whom they will do their best learning.

Funeral at St Michael’s Parish – Friday 18 November at 2pm – No Pickup Beatrice Road

Please note that there is a funeral at St Michael’s Church at 2pm. No pickup at Beatrice Road. Please ensure that the person who normally picks up your children knows about this. Hopefully we will be at Athletics so it should not be a problem.

If you have any questions please contact our school coordinator Laura Thomson on [email protected]

We aim to have a school marquee at the event. If anyone would like to volunteer to set this up please contact Laura. She would usually do it but has an engagement that weekend which means she can’t. Set up takes place the evening prior and the tent must be packed down at the end of the event. Bonus is you usually get a parking permit on site for the day – a serious perk given the large crowds!
