Tēnā koutou katoa St Michael’s Catholic School Community,
With your basket and my basket the people will thrive

It was a real honour to attend St Michael’s Church 90th Anniversary Mass and especially having his Excellency Archbishop Novatus Rugambwa Apostolic Nuncio as the Presider. The whole Sacramental Ceremony was uplifting. Thank you to the 90th Anniversary Committee for your superb organisation and to all the Choirs who sang at the Mass.
Feedback Stars For Teachers and BOT
Thank you to all the families who have brought these back to school. Please remember to return to school the Yellow and Green stars. Your feedback is important to us.
Summer Uniform
In Term 4 we change into the summer uniform however with the cold spell the expectation will be that all students will be in full summer uniform after labour weekend. Please ensure your child has the correct school uniform including Black sandals and SMCS Green sunhat.
Athletics Day - Helpers needed on Friday 10 November (Rain Date: 13/11/23)
Our Athletics Day will be held at Glover Park again this year. In order for this to run smoothly, John Hazel and Jo Petrie are looking for parent helpers to fill a range of roles. One of the key values of our school is to “do your bit” and we would love your support in ensuring the success of this event. If you are available to help on the day, please email John j.hazel@smcs.school.nz and Jo j.petrie@smcs.school.nz

Excerpt from ‘The Catholic Education of School-Age Children’ (NZ Bishops, 2014)
“The question of why young people are emerging from Catholic schools without having formed a committed relationship with Christ is the highest priority issue for all involved in Catholic education, given that this is the major objective of Catholic schools. Questions about the expansion of the Catholic education system are secondary to addressing this question in the existing schools..” (Page 9, 38)

St Paul of the Cross
“O glorious Saint Paul of the Cross, you were chosen by God to profess to all of humanity the bitter sufferings of His only-begotten Son, and to spread devotion to the Passion of Jesus throughout the world. By your preaching and holy example, Jesus converted thousands of sinners through you by bringing them to the foot of the Cross to repent of their sins, thereby obtaining for them His infinite forgiveness and mercy! May Jesus be blessed for His extraordinary grace that was so often made present in your life, and for the many miracles He worked through you for the conversion of souls! O blessed Saint Paul of the Cross, turning towards you, now I ask that from your place with Jesus and Mary in Heaven that you may look mercifully upon my poor soul and hear my prayers, and with all of your love humbly present them to Jesus for me (https://www.blessedbeadsrosaries.com/saint-paul-of-the-cross-prayers#).”
