Tēnā koutou katoa St Michael’s Catholic School Community, 

It was a real honour to attend St Michael’s Church 90th Anniversary Mass and especially having his Excellency Archbishop Novatus Rugambwa Apostolic Nuncio as the Presider. The whole Sacramental Ceremony was uplifting. Thank you to the 90th Anniversary Committee for your superb organisation and to all the Choirs who sang at the Mass.

Thank you to all the families who have brought these back to school. Please remember to return to school the Yellow and Green stars. Your feedback is important to us. 

In Term 4 we change into the summer uniform however with the cold spell the expectation will be that all students will be in full summer uniform after labour weekend. Please ensure your child has the correct school uniform including Black sandals and SMCS Green sunhat. 

Our Athletics Day will be held at Glover Park again this year. In order for this to run smoothly, John Hazel and Jo Petrie are looking for parent helpers to fill a range of roles. One of the key values of our school is to “do your bit” and we would love your support in ensuring the success of this event. The International Competitions and Assessments for Schools (ICAS) are independent skills-based assessments with a competition element. ICAS assessments offer students experience in sitting large scale examinations.

This term the school focus for Religious Education is the Communion of Saints Strand. Across the school the students will be learning about the special role of Mary in our Catholic tradition; Saints and Inspiring People who continue to be role models for us today; How our Christian Hope, through the Resurrection of Jesus, supports our belief in life everlasting; and Developing understanding of Te Wa - the journey of life from a Christian perspective.

Rosary Group Meet Every Friday at 1:15pm to 1:30pm at the Reflective Area (Church if raining)

We had our PTA meeting on Monday, thanks to those who came along.

Our Mums’ night out will be on Friday 27 October at 7pm at Orakei Beach Club! Ticket sales have closed. 

If you haven’t got a ticket but would like to socialise and soak up the atmosphere, please come along. 

Bumper issue with lots of specials for Christmas, orders close on Tuesday 24th of October so make sure you get on and order soon so you don’t miss out.

We are ready to receive orders for Calendar art. Please see the flyer that your child will be bringing home from school this week for details on ordering online directly.

When you log on with your child/ren’s individual number through the school code, you will be able to view their art and order online.

Check out the bookshelves outside Genevieve’s office for samples of the products available to purchase. These good quality products make fantastic Christmas presents for family and friends.

Prices are $20 for a diary, with all other items being $15. There will also be smencils available to order.

Please remember to order your pizzas by 9am on Friday mornings to avoid your child having no pizza for lunch.

The season started off for Touch Rugby on Friday and it was very exciting for both "The Saintz" Y1 and Y2 and "The Chasers" Y3 and Y4, for some of the Year 1's it was their first time playing.

The Saintz would like to acknowledge Albert Waalkens for Player of the Day and Hugo Hickey as Toucher of the Day.

The Chasers would like to acknowledge Ethan Zazulak-Baker as Player of the Day and Antonio Elika as Toucher of the Day. Well Done!
